Sale, Sale, Sale!

It wasn't until I moved to West Virginia that I started shopping at target. I use to go there for homegoods and every now and again browse through to look at work out gear or swimsuits. But lately, that's been my go to for comfort clothing. I went to target to buy my friend a baby shower gift, and across the way I spotted 30%, 50%, 70% clothing racks. And I don't know about you, but I can't resist a good sale.

Usually I don't have time to browse through mounds of clothes, but I had hours to spare while shopping around Chicago. Good thing I did the picking for you! I just got off work, but as promised, here are my finds. They all range from $6- $17! Can't beat that! I noticed online some of these items aren't on sale, but in stores they are!
Let's start with this turtleneck worn with two different pants and two different shoes.

These pants ($15 IN STORE) are a burgundy  velveteen and are so comfortable!! I can seriously wear these everyday. I also paired them with this beige sweater and patterned top (click the pics to purchase).

Just like the burgundy pants, these faux suede camel colored pants  ($15 IN STORE) are also my favorite. You can dress them up with the turtleneck above or casually with this striped shirt and some flats or toms (you can click the pics below to purchase the items)

Look, I only dress up occasionally. If I just want to go to the movies or around the town to grab lunch, no need to throw on a gown. These casual dresses can easily be worn for three out of the four seasons. Click on the pics for links to buy!

A Woman's shoes tell all

When you wrap a gift, you put a bow on it. When you want someone to feel special, you send them flowers. When you want to feel confident you put on a nice pair of shoes. On any given work day, you'll see me spotted in Dansko's (the popular doctor/nurses shoes that resemble clogs but are uber comfortable). On a winter weekend you'll see me transition to my Sorel Tivoli all weather boots or bearpaw boots.

But if I'm going somewhere other than the grocery store or back to work, it's all about the heel. Some people say you can't have enough shoes, but I disagree. You can, and if you want to maintain a clutter free home, when you buy a new pair you need to throw out an old one. That's our policy in my house. To make room for the new, you have to do away the old.

These pair of shoes have stayed with me for probably 5 years. I know. I need to throw them out. But it's something about the flower that when I look down, it makes me feel special. So why not make my feet feel special, wrap them up with comfort and give them "flowers."

Of course since this pair is ancient, I found some similar styles that you can't go wrong with here,  here, and here.
I've always thought ivory was an amazing color to wear during the winter. It's such a sophisicated, classy, and timeless color. I decided to pair this with my favorite sweater this season and an ivory pashmina. Shop my outfit below.

Of course during this frigid cold weather, it's important to stay warm. I 've had this jacket for ages, but here is a great one that I think can hold up for many years to come.

I'll snow you what I'm made of.....

I think I'd be GREAT at naming OPI polishes 😆. "I'll snow you what I'm made of" would just be a shade darker than bright white. Like a wedding dress, I wouldn't want it to be stark. 🙄 Ok sorry I'm rambling.. back to my outfit - I love playing in the snow. I didn't grow up around snow, so when it does snow I'm like Princess Anna, a little girl yearning to build a snowman or make a family of snow angels.

This hat though...... to die for. Raise your hand if you've done this before. Bought something for someone else as a gift, but decided to keep it because you liked it so much. Yes, it was this hat. I couldn't let it go. I convinced myself that the person I was buying it for probably wouldn't wear it. So I kept it. I usually shop online for clothes, so when I saw this wool floppy hat while holiday shopping at Target, I couldn't resist.

These gloves also did wonders on keeping my hands warm and I can't believe they actually matched my hat. SCORE!

I know fur vests were huge last season, but I don't have the heart to throw mine out. I love them because they keep me so warm and they make me feel luxurious. These are favorite fur vests this season (with links) along with where to buy my sweater and boots.

I"ll snow you how it's done

I can't believe our first snow fall this year was in January. I'm originally from Alabama so snow was just something you saw on TV or you remember that one time ten years ago that it did snow. Since living in West Virginia, I expect snow every Winter  and I look forward to it. There's nothing like waking up, looking out your window, and seeing endless white. It just makes for a happy day even if you can't leave your house. While playing in the snow today I chose my bearpaw boots and my Altar'd State belted kimono layered over a cozy black sweater and tights.

Kimonos are one of my favorite fashion accessories. They always come in fun, vibrant colors and are easy to layer over jeans and a plain t-shirt or tights and a sweater. My favorite kimonos are listed here, here, and here.

I love my bearpaw boots. They give you the warmth that you need without breaking the bank. When it comes to fashion, I'm a practical girl. I like to make a statement. But if I want to retire at age 50 - I'll take the bearpaw boots please.
